In episode #2 of Write That Script I talk with Kit Bowen from Hollywood.com. I’ve also been fighting a cold so please excuse the stuffy sinuses and the occasional coughing. This episode took a little longer to get out than I wanted because of the issues I have with Screenplay Outliner, and also the virus coursing through my body. I do want to thank everyone for their emails, and please keep them coming or leave comments on the website.

Hello there. So far, I like the podcast. I’d love to hear you talk about your beef with the three act structure. I’m a self-educated aspiring screenwriter, and the first book I picked about about the topic was, of course, Screenplay by Syd Field. I’ve read a host of others, and used a lot of other structural systems within then three act structure, but to this day, when I first get an idea, the first thing I do is get a piece of paper and pencil and draw out a three act paradigm to help flesh it out. What is so abhorrent about three acts?
I hope things go well for your software upgrade. years ago, I got a chance to use Outliner when I got it as a bonus for buying Final Draft fro The Writer’s Store. I liked it. The problem is, I hate outlining, even though I know it’s necessary. I look forward to trying the new version when you finish it.
Looking forward to the next episode of the podcast.
